No One Really WANTS An Enterprise Architecture
It is important to recognize that no one really WANTS an Enterprise Architecture!
People want a roadmap that clearly defines what needs to be done to enable mission strategies and Enterprise goals. No one wants a series of endless “sprints” not knowing where the goal line is. You want to know what your end-state objective is, how to get there, and how to identify and manage Enterprise capabilities.
As an example, you may want to analyze potential mergers or acquisitions of a competitor and determine the degree of fit prior to the merger or acquisition - that is a "business outcome-driven Enterprise Architecture." This is well beyond “IT” System Development Enterprise Architecture. R.E.A.L. Enterprise Architecture does not assume that the ultimate outcome is a system.
